The success of Luxottica’s revolutionary OPSM eye hub in Melbourne has recently been recognised with two prestigious awards. The store received the Store Design of the Year at the Retail World Awards ceremony and was named Best Retail Design at the Asia Pacific Property Awards.
Chris Beer, CEO Asia Pacific, Greater China and South Africa at Luxottica Retail, said: “We developed the eye hub with the aim to combine the best of everything in optometry, retail, experience, and choice – a world class customer experience. I’m thrilled that eye hub continues to be recognised as a stand-out destination.”
The eye hub was developed with input from key Luxottica team members across Australia, and through detailed customer research, as well as with experiential designers e2.
Some of the key customer elements include:
- The Kids Zone – with cushioned floor, bean bags and ‘factoids’ about eyes
- Interactive mirrors, which allow customers to see themselves in glasses or sunnies before they buy;
- A centre piece ‘product vault’, which is home to exclusive designer brands and one-off pieces not available anywhere else;
- A choice of over 2,000 frames; and
- A wind tunnel for sports fans to test glasses under realistic conditions and a simulator machine to check glare and light tailored to particular sports weather.
