Thanks to support from delegates, exhibitors and presenters WAVE 2011 was an enormous success. More than 200 eye care professionals attended, including a solid representation from our interstate colleagues.
This year, we introduced several initiatives, and all were well received. Our delegates, regardless of age, took to the new keypad assessment like ‘ducks to water’. The majority of attendees took the opportunity to answer the questions while at the workshops and lectures, and in the process, managed to add considerably to their annual CPD points.
Our education program was also well received. Feedback confirmed that we have delivered a good, balanced, all round program with a host of strong presenters. Dr. Celia Chen’s insights once again proved to be a highlight, as were the presentations delivered by Darryl Guest, David Foresto and WAVE first timer, Roman Serebrianik. Darryl and Roman had particularly large workloads throughout Saturday, and did a remarkable job.
Our new focus on therapeutic education was well received, particularly among those who are starting off on their therapeutics journey and participating in our Ocular Therapeutics course.

Another initiative for WAVE 2011 was the new venue. The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre proved to be exactly what we needed. While delegates appreciated being close to the city, delegates and exhibitors alike loved the aspect of the exhibition hall, which is light filled and overlooks Perth City and the Swan River. This year we had six new exhibitors who attended WAVE. All said it worked very well for them and have indicated their willingness to return next.
With WAVE now behind us, we’re already working towards a new year of planning, including of course, WAVE for 2012 on from 4 to 5 August 2012.
