Throughout the year, Australian optometrists have provided invaluable support to Optometry Giving Sight (OGS), which in turn has funded significant eye care projects in the developing world.
In India, OGS funds have been used to create the Indian Optometry Federation, which brings all Indian optometrists together to deliver services to the 133,000,000 blind or vision impaired in that country.
In Africa, the International Centre for Eyecare Education (ICEE), funded by OGS, has initiated and developed programs to deliver vision care to those in need and established six optometry schools.
There is still plenty more to be done.
