Luxottica has attracted optometry graduate students from Australia and New Zealand to commence its Graduate Recruitment Mentor and Training Program and placed 85% of its graduates in regional areas across Australia and New Zealand.
Cheryl Nichols, National Optometry HR Director for Luxottica said; “It is fantastic to see the Optometry Graduate Program continue to grow in success and reputation. This is the highest percentage of graduates Luxottica has ever placed in regional areas across Australia and New Zealand and has been achieved through providing the highest level of support and training for each individual. Luxottica is focused on providing the best eye care and solutions in all areas across Australia and New Zealand especially with the advancement of the new technologies available across the stores, such as Digital Retinal Scans, OCTs, OPTOS and NCTs.”
Graduate success is supported by the Luxottica Mentor Program, Cadetship Program, Regional Eyecare Managers, Institute of Learning run by academic Dr Peter Herse and a specifically designed 12-month training program called the Optometry Learning Pathways. This support combined with experienced industry experts and CPD training programs that are available to regionally placed optometrists through e-learning, will help to provide a solid foundation and a introduction to each graduate’s Optometry career.
Luxottica’s Graduate Orientation Day, held at OPSM eyehub in Melbourne attracted top tier students who truly engaged with the company. Andrew McKinnon, CEO Optometrists Association of Australia NSW/ACT presented on the day and students were able to experience Luxottica’s culture and values as well as experience a world class optometry specialist facility.

Ms. Nichols says: “We provide the opportunity for graduates to continue building their career paths by providing further opportunities for post graduate studies to specialise and experience all facets of Optometry. At Luxottica, our graduates are also able to give back by participating in OneSight, our charitable foundation which has helped improve the vision of over 200,000 people since 2003.
“Luxottica is proud of the graduates it recruits every year who want to become part of a leading optometry team and a company which is committed to eye care, finding the best solution for individuals and its people.”
