UNSW SOVS Launches Optometrists Business Course

The University of New South Wales School of Optometry and Vision Sciences (SOVS) will commence a business course for young optometry practitioners and established optometrists in late February.

Developed by Fiona Stapleton UNSW Head of School, the initiative is all about building a business skill set for postgraduate optometrists that is relevant to their own individual business situations. It will combine the talents of small business experts, experienced practitioners and industry identities, and address the biggest business challenges facing optometrists in the optical marketplace: increasing competition, discounting and online selling.

Graduates of the program will be able to analyse their workplace and develop strategies to build their businesses for the future.

The program has been developed to be intimate and discussion based and will be delivered mainly by webinar on Monday evenings. All assessments will be built around the participant’s workplace and the skills developed by completing each assignment will be able to be applied directly into their own practice situation and shared with their colleagues to improve profits.

The course is open to graduates and experienced optometrists nationally and commences 27th February 2012. Interested participants should email [email protected] for a course package.
