One thousand visitors are expected to descend upon Birmingham in late May for the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Clinical Conference and Exhibition.
The event includes a four-day Clinical Conference and an extensive exhibition from 45 key members of the contact lens industry. The Clinical Conference runs from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 May while the exhibition runs a day less, from Friday to the Sunday.
Speakers at this year’s Clinical Conference include Professor Alan Tomlinson, the 2012 BCLA Medalist, the Irving Fatt Lecturer, Dr. Martin Cardall – both from the UK – and Professor Mark Andre from the USA.
Poster sessions will be held in the exhibition area and displays will be presented by exhibitors that include CIBA Vision, Bausch + Lomb, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care and Abbott Medical Optics.
Following its successful introduction last year, the BCLA Exhibitors’ Pavilion will be back – extending industry connections via free, half-hourly presentations within the exhibition hall. The sessions will begin at 10.30am each day, with many repeated to ensure delegates attending parallel lectures and workshops don’t miss out.
On the social side, British adventurer, Miles Hilton-Barber, who has achieved multiple world records since becoming blind in his early 20s, will speak at a party and dinner hosted by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care.
Commenting on this year’s exhibition, BCLA President, Shelly Bansal, said: “Today’s contact lens industry is extremely fast-paced and, consequently, practitioners need to keep pace with the latest products and developments that will enable them to offer their patients the very best eye care possible. There is arguably no better place to do this than at the BCLA Clinical Conference and Exhibition.”
