Eye-Con Run: 7 Marathons in 7 Days

Sydney endocrinologist Terry Diamond has completed an incredible seven marathons over seven days in a bid to improve awareness of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). He badged his ultra-marathons as ‘The Eye-Con Run’.

He began the marathons at Uluru in the Northern Territory and traveled to Fremantle in Western Australia, along the way dropping in to South Australia’s Barossa Valley, Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Canberra’s Parliament House, Queensland’s Gold Coast and finally Sydney’s Bondi Beach.

Assoc. Prof. Diamond was inspired to undertake the multi-marathon venture by Pnina Kraus, a 22-year-old University of New South Wales Advanced Science student who has had RP since she was four.

Speaking of the event, Assoc. Prof. Diamond said, “I feel we have been successful in bringing this condition to the attention of the Australian public”.

We will run a feature story on the Eye-Con Run in the June issue of mivision.
