Optical Dispensers Invited to Test Skills of Tradition

At ODMA 2013 Optical Dispensers will be given the chance to prove they’ve still got the edging talents required to cut, edge and fit a lens – skills to a great extent superseded by modern technology.

A competition being run by OptiMed in conjunction with Essilor will invite just 50 optical dispensers to hand edge a single vision glass lens within 30 minutes. Entries will be judged anonymously by the well known industry identity, Dr. David Wilson and the winner will receive an inaugural Most Skilled at Hand Edging trophy along with a AUD$500 gift voucher.

Competitors must pay AUD$30 to enter the competition and all entry fees will be donated to Equal Health, the Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides free health care to people in need in developing countries.

To enter, you must register before Friday 21 June. To register go to:http://www.essilor.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/ODMA_Hand_Edging_Comp_2013.pdf
