La Matta – the women’s brand by Italy’s Area98 – has released nine new vintage inspired models, with styling that ranges from butterfly-shapes to soft squares combined with extreme colours.
The collection’s distinguishing feature is its animalier theme: acetates with effects that mimic zebra or leopard patterns in warm shades of grey, light brown, brown or in contrast with blue, white, bright pink or turquoise and strong two tone fronts.
The temples are the stand out in this collection with lively black and white ceramic decorations alternating bright colours, such as green, red, and purple, or Swarovski decorations embedded in cast metal, and luxurious precious stones covered in leather. I particularly like La Matta LMV3137 pictured here – it’s bright and humorous with buttons along the temple on colourful nylon thread.
