The deal has been made by Campuspecs, an Auckland optometry practice specialising in tertiary student eye care, and the Auckland Women’s Refuge.
The Auckland Women’s Refuge, which began operating in 1975, provides safe houses and community support services for women and children escaping from domestic violence.
The Refuge’s Finance Manager, Ms. Donna Hill, said she was “delighted” by the new relationship with Campuspecs.
“This is an element of health care that is often forgotten. Ensuring that our clients receive the correct prescription for their eyesight and being able to offer them free spectacles can only enhance the services we offer.”
The Practice Manager of the CBD-based Campuspecs, Bernice Reddy said organisations such as the Auckland Women’s Refuge deserved the support of local businesses.
“We’re pleased to be able to do our bit… we embrace a company policy of good corporate citizenship and we have further partnerships with other organisations in the pipeline,” she said.
