UV is based on the product’s patented technology which sees it reduce UV radiation from entering a wearer’s eyes not only through the front of the lens, but also from the back of the lens which has been shown
to reflect UV radiation.

Mr. Gray said Essilor’s relationship with Cancer Council Australia is in line with the company’s ambitions related to social responsibility as well its mission, which is to Improve Lives through Improving Sight.

“We believe the CCA endorsement of our Crizal UV product and the patented technology underpinning the product will provide a great communication platform for eyecare professionals to engage their patients on the need to consider what their best options are to protect their eyes from the accumulative damage that UV has on their eyes as well as the skin surrounding the eyes,” he said.

“We will be supporting the new Crizal UV and Cancer Council Australia association with an extensive industry and consumer media campaign, including television. More details will follow soon, but we obviously believe that this is very exciting for our optometry partners.”

Cancer Council is a not-for-profit organisation, and is the peak independent cancer control authority in Australia, providing education, research and support services across the country.

The organisation boasts a total brand awareness level of 98 per cent amongst Austalian consumers*, and claims to work with ‘best in class’ manufacturers to produce, distribute and promote a range of high quality, affordable sun protection products, including sunscreen, hats, clothing, sunglasses, shade structures and car window tinting.
