According to the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) website, “The American National Standard for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protection Devices ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2010 establishes performance criteria and testing requirements for devices used to protect the eyes and face from injuries from impact, non-ionising radiation and chemical exposure in workplaces and schools. It covers all types of protector configurations including spectacles (plano and prescription), goggles, faceshields, welding helmets and full facepiece respirators.”
Speaking of the safety rating, Tim Moore, Director of Wearable Technologies at Rochester Optical said, “With the safety standard in place, the opportunities for Smart eyewear in enterprise are endless. Safety is the missing piece for many companies when it comes to using wearable technology in the workplace, and we’re excited to close the loop and offer both safety and Rx solutions.”
Rochester Optical has developed an advanced prescription lens solution for smart glasses with Smart GOLD lenses in single vision, bi-focal and progressive designs that virtually eliminate any prismatic effect and distortion accentuated when traditional lenses are fitted into in the frames of smart glasses.
