TearLab is referred to as the first objective, quantitative test for diagnosing and managing dry eye patients.
The TearLab Osmolarity system measures the osmolarity of human tears to aid in the diagnosis of dry eye disease. It provides a quick and simple method for determining tear osmolarity using nanoliter (nL) volumes of tear fluid collected directly from the eyelid margin. The device outputs Tear Osmolarity data as a number (mOsm/L) that allows practitioners to diagnose and manage dry eye disease patients. The osmolarity test allows practitioners to share an objective number with patients when tracking improvements with therapy and patient compliance. Additionally it allows the practitioner to quickly assess a patient’s disease severity and begin a pathway for further treatment.
