The Optical Distributors and Manufacturers Association (ODMA) will host a new trade only show at Peninsula, Docklands in Melbourne this month over the weekend of 21– 22 May.
According to ODMA CEO Finola Carey, ‘O-Show’ is a non-CPD event that will showcase the latest industry technology providing an opportunity for optometrists and ophthalmologists to “come shopping”. The emphasis will be on short, sharp hands-on demonstrations provided by exhibitors, and the opportunity to compare and contrast new products and equipment.
Free information sessions will focus on improving delegate’s business skills. On Saturday 21 May, highly acclaimed speaker, Mark Davis, will present two sessions, providing common sense strategies that assist in improving communication and business outcomes.
Ms. Carey said O-Show would be a “great resource for the industry” and was timed to enable products showcased at Mido to be brought to the Australian industry’s attention.
She said space at Peninsular, normally used as a function centre, is limited. This means only about 30 companies will be exhibiting and most booths will be restricted in size. At the time of going to print Frames Ectetera, Design for Vision, Tiger Vision, Optimed, BOC Instruments, Mimo, Heidelberg Engineering, Zeiss and Device Technologies to name a few, had committed to exhibiting.
Ms Carey said O-Show will support new scholarships for the industry and provide funding support to Optometry Giving Sight.
