Hoya has introduced the Live Your Vision campaign in support of Optometry Giving Sight.
Until the end of June, for every pair of Hoyalux iD Diamond Finish progressive lenses purchased by Hoya registered practices within Australia, Hoya will make a AU$5 donation to Optometry Giving Sight to support someone living in a community with little or no eye care services.
The fundraising campaign aims to address avoidable blindness caused by uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and glasses.
More than 600 million people in the world are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to an eye exam or glasses.
“Hoya is very proud to support Optometry Giving Sight” said Craig Chick, Managing Director, Hoya “Preventable blindness is a solvable problem and we are proud to help give better vision to those in need. Most people are surprised to learn that for as little as $5 someone living in a community with little or no eye care services can, in some countries, be provided with an eye exam and a pair of glasses to transform their lives. Everyone can make a huge difference and we are thrilled to be contributing to universal eye health.”
To date, Optometry Giving Sight has allocated or disbursed more than $AUD 20 million to 72 projects in 38 countries in Australia, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Key projects include support for the establishment of Schools of Optometry, vision centres, educator training programs, child eye health, community education and advocacy.
