New Australasian College of Optical Dispensing Registered and Open

A new College – The Australasian College of Optical Dispensing (ACOD) – will open in 2017 to deliver training and continual professional development that meets the growing needs of the optical dispensing industry. The College’s status was confirmed as a Registered Training Organisation on Tuesday 13 December, 2016, in accordance with the provisions of the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (RTO ID is 45068).

ACOD has been established by James Gibbins and Chedy Kalach, who together have over 45 years industry and vocational education experience as teachers of optical dispensing in both Australia and New Zealand. They have a wide association of colleagues in the industry and have been responsible for the training of thousands of students.

From 2017, ACOD will offer the following courses in the Vocational Education and Training sector as a Registered Training Organisation.

The College’s status was confirmed as a Registered Training Organisation

  • Optical Essentials
  • HLT47815 – Cert IV in Optical Dispensing
  • BSB30915 – Cert III in Business Administration (Education)
  • BSB42615 – Cert IV in New Small Business

Mr. Gibbins said “all courses offered by ACOD can be customised to suit the needs of today’s dynamic learning environment while aligning to units of competency which support career progressing skills and opportunities”.

ACOD also offers student member benefits including discounted CPD events, awards of excellence, certification, mentoring, discounts, a jobs board, advocacy. Student membership is free.
Mr. Gibbons said approval of ACOD as a national VET regulator (NVR) registered training organisation (RTO) came through much faster than expected.

“This is extremely exciting news as it means ACOD courses are nationally accredited with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and our students and employers have absolute confidence that ACOD education programs meet their respective industry skills/ training package standards,” said Mr. Gibbins.
He said the College is looking forward to taking enrolments for 2017. For more information visit ACOD.com.au
