Oculo, Eyecare Plus Collaborate

Eyecare Plus and Oculo, an independent internet-based secure message service, have agreed to work together to promote adoption of Oculo across Eyecare Plus’ national network of 150 optometry practices.

According to Eyecare Plus, its member practices must meet stringent criteria to ensure they provide professional eye care along with quality optometric goods and service excellence. This includes being up to date with the latest techniques and instrumentation for vision examinations and treatment.

Speaking of the agreement, Dr. Kate Taylor, CEO of Oculo, commented, “we are delighted to have the support of Eyecare Plus. Together, we see Oculo creating real opportunities for further improving clinical care pathways and for strengthening the relationships of optometrists with other providers of eye care, obviously with ophthalmologists but notably, with GPs too.”

Over 850 optometry practices and 330 ophthalmology practices have signed up to Oculo, which provides them with access to historical eye-imaging data, test results and relevant medical histories via secure, auditable and shared clinical records.

The service was conceived by renowned glaucoma expert Professor Johnathon Crowston (now Managing Director of Oculo), and has grown out of the Centre for Eye Research Australia which remains the major investor. Its aim is to promote the efficiency and quality of clinical communications, and ultimately help deliver the best possible care to patients so they may enjoy the best possible vision.
