Paul Rose Awarded CNZM

Optometrist Paul Rose, whose name is internationally synonymous with keratoconus, has been recognised in the 2017 New Zealand New Year Honours List with a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) for services to ophthalmology and optometry.

The award was initiated by Mr. Rose’s founding business partner at Rose K International, Ian Jennings, in mid-2015 who sought testimonials from local and international colleagues.

Mr. Rose said that “although I’ve received numerous international industry awards, this one is especially meaningful because it was awarded by my own country and people.” Additionally, he said “it was a positive for optometry to have one of its own receive this prestigious award.”

Although Rose K is now owned by Menicon Japan, Mr. Rose remains on board as a consultant. He lectures internationally, sharing his expertise in contact lens management of keratoconus, while developing and testing
new lens designs.
