ODMA has commenced an “urgent application” in the Federal Court against its former events management company, Expertise Events, for allegedly misusing its “customer database”.
The owner of Expertise Events, Gary Fitz-Roy who previously ran ODMA 2015, is now in charge of running Silmo Sydney from 9–11 March.
In his orders, dated 16 December 2016, Justice Farrell granted ODMA leave for an independent information technology expert to inspect Expertise Event’s “customer database and information and passwords”, including exhibitors and visitors and compare it to ODMA’s own database to determine if there have been any modifications.
The matter is listed for an interlocutory hearing on 28 February, with written submissions by both parties due by Friday, 24 February.
