Eye care will be just one of many services offered at MediCentral Sydney, a multi-million dollar comprehensive medical centre that opened its doors in Sydney’s CBD in late February. The Centre has been established through a joint venture between Chinese owned Tasly Pharmaceuticals and Healthpac and is the first of a planned roll out of similar centres across Australia.
“The MediCentral model is well placed to play a pivotal role in supporting the national health system, by relieving pressure on hospital surgery waiting lists and emergency departments,” says Sanjay Nijhawan, Medical Director, MediCentral Sydney.
“Our day surgery facilities and specialists are able to attend to patients and keep them out of the hospital system wherever possible. This is good for patients and good for our hospitals, which are already under a great deal of strain. Our primary care preventative approach to patient care and management is key to ensuring that the GP’s are well supported and able to play a significant role in reducing surgery waiting lists in our hospitals.”
Across 16 GP Rooms, four treatment rooms and a minor procedure room, The MediCentral Specialists Consulting Team cover every major craft group and discipline, along with diagnostic facilities including onsite pathology, comprehensive radiology, cardiac stress, allergy, hearing, EEG, optometric testing and genetic screening.

Dr. Ven Tan, Founder of Tasly Healthpac Group said the centre would serve a wide and changing demographic population of the city.
