Australia’s own eyewear brand Sunday Somewhere has been acquired by Brando Eyewear, a subsidiary of Mondottica.
Sunday Somewhere, established by Dave Allison, currently distributes to over 1,000 stores in 30 countries. Speaking of the acquisition, which was finalised late last week, Sunday Somewhere Marketing Director Cameron Parker said, “It’s a massive opportunity for Sunday Somewhere… There’s so much demand for the brand but keeping up with production is challenging.”
Mondottica will assume the business of Sunday Somewhere, including their staff, customer base and ‘state of mind’, capitalising on the strength of demand for the brand, customer service and brand experience.
Mr. Parker said Brando would provide the support of additional design / testing resources, as well as greater access to the supply chain for materials, production efficiencies, and distribution.
“Importantly for us, they understand the eyewear industry which will really help us,” said Mr. Parker.
Michael Jardine, Brando’s ‘Chief Dreamer’ says: “The team at Mondottica has invested an abundance of energy and resources over the past few years establishing Brando. The Brando family is a collection of in-house contemporary eyewear brands each with their own unique product and position in the market. Adding Sunday Somewhere to this portfolio only cements this commitment and passion for being a leader in the eyewear industry”.
Dave McHenry, Managing Director of Sunday Somewhere said, “We are extremely grateful to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. The Sunday Somewhere team can all be proud of what has been achieved and excited to see further success as the brand becomes more accessible to consumers around the world”.
