Vision Australia opens in Bairnsdale, Victoria

Vision Australia has opened a new East Gippsland branch to support the needs of people from Sale to Benambra in Victoria, who are blind or have low vision.

The branch is located at The Hub in Bairnsdale.

Fully trained volunteer staff at the Bairnsdale office, give East Gippsland clients a place to discuss their needs and try assistive technology, while giving Vision Australia’s Warragul-based clinical staff, a space to perform consultations and a base to reach more distant East Gippsland clients for home care visits.

“From Warragul, Vision Australia covers an area from Pakenham to the NSW border and into the high country. The new Bairnsdale office gives us greater flexibility to provide better services for people from Sale to Benambra and the border,” said Vision Australia Gippsland regional manager Beryl Raufer.

With the right technology, support and changes to a person’s environment, we can assist people who are blind or have low vision to live the life they choose

“Our occupational therapists, orthoptists, occupational and mobility experts and assistive technology consultants will visit The Hub in Bairnsdale regularly to ensure the blind and low vision community gets the best possible care.”

“With the right technology, support and changes to a person’s environment, we can assist people who are blind or have low vision to live the life they choose,” Ms Raufer said.
