Essilor’s new Transitions for Kids package provides all round protection for kids’ eyes from the front and back of the lens.
These kids’ lenses block 100 per cent UV and at least 85 per cent of the bad blue–violet light emitted from the sun. Made from polycarbonate, they also block an object flying at 155m/sec – according to optometrist Annette Hoskin and colleagues from the Lions Eye Institute, kid’s eye injuries are often associated with flying objects.

Bundled options can be matched with a selection of frames from VKO, or your own lenses. A ‘Power of 3’ kid’s lens is available in New Zealand. According to Essilor, 8 – 15 year olds have recorded an 88 per cent preference to Transitions over clear lenses. But just in case, Transitions’ 30-day love ‘em or leave ‘em guarantee means if your patient doesn’t like their Transitions, they can change them for clear lenses. Additionally, Essilor offers a guarantee breakage replacement for the first 12 months.
