Mivision has launched its first online videoed CPD event for optometry, complete with interactive multiple choice questions.
The first two-part videoed presentation on one day silicone hydrogel (SiHy) contact lenses, sponsored by Cooper Vision, is presented by Professor Deborah Sweeney, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President (research and innovation) Western Sydney University; and Dr. Neil Doyle, market researcher and behavioural expert from Delta MV.
In an engaging presentation, Professor Sweeney speaks about the evolution of one day silicone hydrogel contact lenses and global trends on the fitting of hydrogel contact lenses. She says in Australia, the majority of two weekly and one month contact lens wearers – 95 per cent – are fitted with silicone hydrogels, yet in daily disposables, two out of every three patients continue to be fitted with a hydrogel contact lens. In her presentation, Prof. Sweeney discusses contributing factors to the reluctance to refit hydrogel daily disposables with SiHy daily disposables.
In the second part of this CPD presentation, Dr. Neil Doyle advises on how you can “delight your customers and keep them loyal”, drawing on results from research talking to current contact lens wearers as well as spectacle wearers who do not wear contact lenses. A representative sample of 400 people from both groups contributed to quantitative and qualitative research, providing insights into what patients are looking for, what they expect from a lens and what they expect from their optometrist.
