mivision Moves Ahead Under New Ownership

The November issue of mivision is the first to be published under new ownership, following a decision by founding editor Mark Cushway to sell his shares in the company.

mivision is now owned by Managing Director Todd Tai and his new business partner.

Mr. Tai and Mr. Cushway established Toma Publishing in 2006. In 2016, Mr. Cushway stepped back from mivision and his role as editor for health reasons. Most recently he made the decision to sell the shares he held in Toma Publishing, with the transaction completed on 4 September 2018.

Over 13 years, mivision has become the leading ophthalmic journal in Australia and New Zealand, distributed to 6,436 accredited eye health professionals.1 mivision’s online clinical learning centre has become the optometry profession’s go-to for continued professional development, with over 20,000 education modules completed each year.

“Mark was integral to the establishment and development of mivision and we are grateful for his significant contribution,” said Mr. Tai. “We have a highly experienced and committed team in place, which includes Nikki Byrne, our production manager of 10 years, Melanie Kell who has written for us for eight years including the past 18 months as editor, Simon Ward, our designer of seven years, and Kirsten Black our account manager.”

Mr. Cushway said, “I sold my shares in mivision to Todd and his new business partner, enabling them to take the publication we launched 13 years ago into the future… mivision is a brilliant publication and will only get better.”

Mr. Tai said, “We all look forward to continuing to support the patient pathway and influence optimum patient outcomes by sharing knowledge and improving communication within the eye care professions, through mivision.”
