The Australasian College of Optical Dispensing (ACOD) has partnered with the University of Canberra’s Discipline of Optometry to deliver the full Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing HLT47815. The course will be delivered in 2019/20 to students employed in the Canberra area and surrounds with all workshops held at the Discipline’s training rooms.
ACOD director Chedy Kalach believes this is the first time students will be able to complete the full Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing HLT47815 without having to leave the ACT.
ACT Government traineeships are now available to students of optical dispensing enrolled with ACOD. This means most students who qualify for the traineeship (subject to the student’s background as ascertained from a pre-assessment process), will pay an enrolment fee capped at AU$1,000, employers may qualify for incentives of up to $4,000, and students may also qualify for $300 upon course completion.
ACOD offers a 12 month program, which includes five workshops of three days each, from Monday to Wednesday, 9am–5pm each day. The first ACT course is scheduled for 15–17 July, with workshops two to five taking place in September and November, then March and May, 2020.
