MDFA Issues Bushfire Eye Health Information

Optometrists and patients can now access a  summary information sheet, created by Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA), to help those affected by the Australian bushfire crisis. In response to irritated eye symptoms caused from ongoing smoke and poor air quality, the information includes suggestions to helps protect eyes and for symptom relief.

The sheet also includes a summary of government and other agencies that are providing essential support services for those affected by the fires and is available to download online.

MDFA is also encouraging patients being treated with anti-VEGF injections to maintain their treatment and contact their eye care practitioner in advance if unable to access eye health appointments.

Assistance is also available to patients via the MDFA National Helpline (1800 111 0709). To download a copy of the summary information sheet visit www.mdfoundation.com.au/content/important-eye-health-information-through-bushfire-crisis
