Mivision CPD Completions Rocket, Points Uploaded Overnight

Continuing professional development (CPD) points acquired by Optometry Australia (OA) members through mivision’s mieducation.com portal are now uploaded to the OA portal overnight. This means all OA members are able to check the points they’ve acquired from mieducation.com daily and monitor their CPD completions to ensure they are on track to meet requirements as determined by the Optometry Board of Australia (OBA).

Nikki Byrne, Production Manager for mivision and mieducation, said the reporting process has been welcomed by OA members.

“We know optometrists value the ability to check their CPD points daily, so as soon as OA launched its Institute of Excellence in late 2019, we started working closely with their site administrators to streamline the reporting process for members.

From January to May 2020, more than 25,000 CPD modules had already been completed, putting mieducation.com on target to triple its participation this year

“Having up to the minute information will be particularly useful as we near the end of the CPD year and for those optometrists who are audited by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA),” Ms Byrne said.

mieducation.com continues to gain in popularity with participation across Australia, New Zealand and overseas almost tripling in just five months this year.

From January to December 2018, a total of 21,953 mieducation CPD modules were completed by optometrists and in the same period during 2019, 38,863 modules were completed. From January to May 2020, more than 25,000 CPD modules had already been completed, putting mieducation.com on target to triple its participation this year compare to 2018.

“mieducation.com is increasingly popular with each course we offer completed, on average, by 500 optometrists in Australia and New Zealand. On top of that, we have a growing international audience of optometrists taking advantage of our free CPD,” Ms Byrne said.

VALUE ADD AS CPD RULINGS CHANGE

mieducation.com’s new reporting process will be valuable as optometrists transition to meet new CPD requirements announced by the Optometry Board of Australia (OBA), which come into effect on 1 December 2020.

ACCESS YOUR INFORMATION ON MIEDUCATION.COM

Ms Byrne stressed that the new daily reporting functionality is only available to members of Optometry Australia. Optometrists who are registered with AHPRA but are not members of OA must continue to record their own CPD completions. New Zealand optometrists must submit their CPD completions directly to the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board of New Zealand.

“If you are not an OA member, it is still easy to access information about your CPD completions online,” said Ms Byrne. “Simply log into mieducation.com, enter your user name and password to access your CPD record, certificates and learning history.”

mieducation.com provides automatic reporting direct to the participating optometrist immediately upon completion of a CPD Module test.

Information provided includes:

  • Points are immediately recorded to the participant’s CPD profile,
  • A certificate is immediately emailed to the participant which recognises the CPD score, a pass/fail notification, and the amount of points earned, and
  • A learning history statement is emailed listing all the courses completed within the education period.

Additionally, at any time optometrists can:

  • Email a copy of their CPD certificate for each completed module from the ‘Completed Modules’ page, and
  • Generate and download a ‘Learning History’ report for a required date range from the ‘Completed Module’ page.
