Australian Vision Convention (AVC) 2021 will be held as a virtual and live event with a clinical program redesigned to accommodate the latest CPD changes and provide 100% of optometry’s CPD requirements.
“The unanticipated 2020 year of optometry brought many unexpected challenges. The AVC 2021 theme 20/20+1 Better than Perfect references a fresh start and opportunity to shift those plans to 2021. We want our patients to see their best and look to the future of eye care and optometry every year, not just in 2020,” said Melinda Toomey, Optometry Queensland Northern Territory Board President.
The AVC 2021 clinical program offers a line-up of more than 40 speakers, with up to 30 CPD hours and more than ten therapeutic hours, ensuring optometrists continue to have their CPD requirements met through the convention.
“The Education Committee has introduced plenary lecture themes in 2021 to assist with the completion of CPD portfolios. The plenary lectures will focus on contact lenses, ocular oncology, paediatrics, macular disease, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology and ocular therapeutics. This will be complemented with a workshop stream running the first day of the program with 15 one-hour workshops on offer, allowing delegates to personalise their learning”, said Ms Toomey.
Additionally, AVC will offer a new, custom built platform that seamlessly integrates the AVC experience for both face-to-face and virtual delegates.
For the first time, AVC will provide full access to virtual delegates so they can attend breakfast lectures and the workshop stream. All session recordings will be made available, on-demand, for four months following the congress, allowing delegates to view the sessions at their leisure with a personal login. Five one-hour complementary online discussion groups will be offered during this on-demand period enabling delegates to dive into the plenary session themes and maximise interactive CPD hours.
All aspects of the conference will be delivered in strict accordance with the COVID-19 protocols and recommendations at the time of the event.
Delegates are invited to attend the conference in person at the Sea World Resort and Conference Centre, or attend online. Registrations are open.
