Nick Hansen, from Hansen Optometrists in Orange NSW, has been elected to the Board of Eyecare Plus.
The Hansen group of optometrist practices were one of the first to join Eyecare Plus, and Mr Hansen was one of the initial directors on the Eyecare Plus Board, serving for 11 years.
Having returned to the role of director, Mr Hansen said he looks forward to planning and implementing activities to further strengthen Eyecare Plus optometrists.

“Many of my colleagues over the years have asked me why such a long established well know optometry practice like ours joined a marketing group like Eyecare Plus. We joined and have stayed involved because it has become increasingly difficult for independent optometry practices to compete and stay viable in the ever-changing Australian optometric and IT landscape,” said Mr Hansen. “Eyecare Plus gives us the support, marketing and buying power of a large group of other likeminded independent and non-competing optometry practices.”
“I believe that Eyecare Plus is at the cutting edge of professional optometric services in Australia and this is the reason I have stayed as a member. Through COVID-19, the experienced Head Office has been able to give localised support, advice and material help to all its members. The Post COVID-19 future is going to be challenging for all of us but I believe that as a member of Eyecare Plus, I am in a much better position to survive and maybe even thrive than a lot of other independent practices in Australia.”
“As an old dog, I think I still have a lot to offer the Eyecare Plus members as a director. I have the time, enthusiasm, and the experience to help Eyecare Plus maintain and expand that cutting edge. I want be part the decision making as Eyecare Plus moves forward. I want to be looking at ways to perhaps invest, design and utilise new platforms that will help us better market, manage and maintain our professional optometric services.”
Mr Hansen was elected to the Board at Eyecare Plus’s annual general meeting on 20 October 2020. He joins chairman, Justin Durkin, and directors, Martin Gregory and Liz Muller.
