The Lions Eye Institute (LEI) has appointed Dr Glen Power as its new Chief Executive Officer. His appointment is set to support the Institute’s strategic growth plan to ensure its sustainable future.
Dr Power enters the new position backed by 22 years of experience in senior roles within the Australian health industry, including as Chief Executive Officer of Perth Clinic, St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals, and St John of God Warrnambool Hospital. He has also held the role of Chief of Staff and Principal Policy Advisor to the Western Australian Minister for Health.
Dr Power is a Rhodes Scholar (Western Australia, 1992) and studied science, law and politics at Oxford, Murdoch, UWA and Melbourne universities. He completed his doctorate at Oxford and was elected president of the Magdalen College Middle Common Room. Dr Power is currently Branch President of the Australian Private Hospitals Association in Western Australia.
Professor Bill Morgan, Managing Director of the Lions Eye Institute, said “As Chief Executive Officer, Dr Power will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organisation, and will play a crucial role in leading a number of exciting projects that are currently in development”.
