Single vision is by far the most sold ophthalmic lens design, with most of these lenses being finished single vision (FSV) lenses. Zeiss, pioneers of Freeform technology for Rx lenses, has now discovered a way to get complex freeform single vision lens shapes on to stock FSV lenses.
The advanced Freeform lens design in Zeiss ClearView FSV lenses is based on a complex point-by-point optimisation process using 700 free parameters in every lens design. The result is a finished single vision lens design that is very thin and flat and achieves excellent optics – with clear viewing from the lens centre to the periphery.
