Bailey Nelson Launches Joint Venture Franchise Model

Australian optometry group Bailey Nelson has opened its first joint venture franchise store in the trendy Melbourne beach-side suburb of Williamstown. The store opening coincides closely with the opening of the group’s 100th store.

Group founders Peter Winkle and Nick Perry said they are “over the moon excited by the opening” which realises their ambition to develop a business model that enables passionate optometrists and retail professionals to join forces and provide high quality professional eye care linked with affordable, fashionable eyewear.

Founded in Bondi Beach in 2012, Bailey Nelson has quickly grown into a global brand with over 100 stores worldwide.

“The past 12 months has seen continued growth for our business in all parts of Australia, London, Canada, and New Zealand, posting a series of record weeks. We have seen several of our stores deliver sales of more than AU$50,000 in one week of trading,” said Mr Winkle.

“Not only have we co-created and launched a number of new and exciting additions to our frame range, we have also been rolling our omnichannel store and our digital strategy, including virtual try on to enhance customer interaction with Bailey Nelson,” he added.

At the launch of the Williamstown store, Mr Perry observed that, “Buying glasses should be one of life’s pleasures. And we’ve created a formula to make it one. Bailey Nelson has quickly grown into a global brand led by incredible support teams.”

The Bailey Nelson joint venture franchise model provides joint venture partners with a ‘turn key’ business model. Bailey Nelson takes care of all the back of office services such as product sourcing, payroll function, payment of rent and business expenses, IT and marketing, allowing the joint venture partners to concentrate on providing world class professional customer service to patients.

“Bailey Nelson is famous for its cool, Australian designed fashion frames that are exclusive to Bailey Nelson. All our frames are designed by our inhouse design and product team in Sydney, drawing on the inspiration of the Sydney harbour and world-famous Sydney beaches and lifestyle,” said Mr Winkle.

“We couldn’t be more excited by the launch of our joint venture franchise model which we hope will allow us to open upward of a 100 more Bailey Nelson stores in Australia and New Zealand over the next three years,” said Mr Perry.
