Silmo d’Or President Adds Creative, Commercial Spirit

A new President of the Silmo d’Or Awards will bring both commercial and creative experience to the judging of this prestigious annual competition.

Jun Gobron was born in Namibia to a Belgian father and a Japanese mother. After graduating from the Free University of Brussels (ULB) with an Economic Sciences degree and gaining a few years’ experience at multinational corporations, he decided to make a career transition and become an interior architect and designer.

With his unique, multicultural perspective and appetite for new aesthetic experiences, Mr Gobron is delighted to join the members of the jury

Passionate about aesthetics, and with an enthusiasm for creation and entrepreneurship, Mr Gobron then began studying at the École supérieure des Arts Saint-Luc of Brussels, which awakened his creative eye and innate sensibility. That enabled him to reveal his talent as a ‘designer of lightness’, combining the simplicity and streamlining of Japan with the elaborate decoration of Europe.

Reinforced by his well-rounded education, Mr Godron is a pragmatic yet imaginative professional. “I learned a lot about economics, and it helps me in my work on a daily basis. The profession of interior architect or designer is not limited to the creative side… In fact, that’s only a small part of it. Once you get the idea, you have to execute it. You become a sort of project manager. You are responsible for handling various participants, drawing up budgets, planning, and so on,” he said.

With his unique, multicultural perspective and appetite for new aesthetic experiences, Mr Gobron is delighted to join the members of the jury as President, and to continue writing the history of the SILMO d’Or awards.

Silmo Paris takes place from 23-26 September at Paris Nord Villepinte.
