Heidi Hunter, optometrist, and owner of Custom Eyecare in Newcastle has been elected as President of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA) NSW state chapter.
As well as looking after patients, running a successful practice, and mentoring her young colleagues, Ms Hunter lectures about eyes and vision to university students, schoolteachers, GPs, nurses, and pharmacists. She’s a clinical supervisor of optometry students for Flinders University, Deakin University, and UNSW. Ms Hunter has lectured at conferences throughout Australia on various clinical topics. She serves on the national board of the CCLSA and is a board member of Optometry Australia NSW/ ACT.
Ms Hunter replaces Dr Margaret Lam, who served record terms as NSW CCLSA President from October 2013 to September 2022 and CCLSA National President from March 2018 to October 2022.
