Optometry Virtually Connected: Program Out

Optometry Australia has opened registration and released the program for its annual national education conference, Optometry Virtually Connected, which will take place 17-18 June 2023.

For the fourth consecutive year, delegates will be invited to attend from across Australia and New Zealand as part of an international conference partnership with the New Zealand Associations of Optometrists.

The 2023 live CPD program offers a comprehensive education experience and opens with keynote speaker Professor Andrew Turpin, who will explore AI, machine learning, deep learning, and why the flood of data now available in care settings is underutilised. He headlines a full program featuring up to 22 hours of quality assured clinical content to super-charge optometrists’ CPD learning requirements over one weekend.

a flexible format that allows attendees to maintain patient appointments in-between webcasts or attend at their convenience throughout the weekend

Dual Stream Event

The event will be divided into two concurrent streams on each day, with each stream featuring presentations on a particular major topic. On Day 1 (17 June), the first stream will feature presentations on Dry Eye, and the second on Myopia. On Day 2 (18 June), the two streams will feature Contact Lenses and Systemic Diseases respectively.

The conference program offers a flexible format that allows attendees to maintain patient appointments in-between webcasts or attend at their convenience throughout the weekend. This also ensures a cost-effective and convenient option to update on CPD from the comfort of home, with no travel or accommodation expenses required.

Day 2 will open with a Plenary presentation entitled ‘Public health and Indigenous eye health: Optometry needs to do more’ and will be presented by Professor Isabelle Jalbert, Professor Sharon Bentley, and Professor Fiona Stapleton.

All hours that delegates spend attending Optometry Virtually Connected sessions, plus any assessments undertaken, will be uploaded directly into their Learning Plan.

Find Out More

This year, the event will be hosted on the Joyn platform, which is now live and will be continually updated as the conference draws near. Delegates are invited to explore the Joyn platform for information on speakers, education sessions, product showcase, and read the frequently asked questions.
