Therapeutic Refresher Course: ACO, Sunday 28 May

The Australian College of Optometry (ACO) will host a face-to-face therapeutic refresher course on-site in Carlton, Melbourne, on Sunday 28 May.

Sponsored by Good Optical Services and CSL Seqirus, the course will be ideal for optometrists who wish to further their expertise in oral and topical therapeutics and gain practical insights into the contemporary management of pre-myopia, cystoid macula oedema (CMO), and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

An interactive presentation with case-based discussion, led by Associate Professor Mark Roth, will guide optometrists through the use of oral therapeutics to treat ocular disease.

ACO Lead Optometrist Paediatric Services, Zeinab Fakih will update optometrists on the evolving area of myopia, including the challenges of diagnosing and managing pre-myopes.

In a didactic and interactive session, Dr Mei Tan will use case study analysis to consider the most appropriate optometric management strategies for CMO.

Dr Bao Nguyen will discuss the application of retinal imaging to assess and diagnose patients with common neuro-ophthalmic disorders such optic neuropathy, optic neuritis, and migraine.

And, with approximately one in seven older Australians affected by AMD, Dr Carla Abbott will present the latest knowledge on this condition, including the use of retinal imaging in assessment and diagnosis.

The course fee is AU$290/NZ$261 for ACO members, and AU$340/NZ$306 for non- members. It has been accredited for up to 7.25T and 3.5i CPD points.
