Eye care in the workplace will be the focus of this year’s World Sight Day, to be held on 12 October.
World Sight Day is one of the most important days of the year for the eye health and vision care sector. It’s an international event that provides an opportunity to focus attention on the importance of good eye health and vision care.
The theme of eye care in the workplace aims to encourage employers to make eye health initiatives standard practice, as well as promoting eye health habits that will benefit the wellbeing, safety, and productivity of employees.
As part of the initiative, the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) is asking individuals and organisations to sign up for sight test pledges in the leadup to World Sight Day. The aim is to reach 10 million pledges. An online pledging tool will open on the IAPB website on 4 July.

Vision 2020 Australia also has World Sight Day resources, including a social media kit, available for download for eye health professionals to participate in the promotion.
Hashtags for the 2023 World Sight Day will be #LoveYourEyes and #WorldSightDayAU.
