Mitigating Risk in Eye Care Study Participants Invited

Optometrists, optical dispensers, practice managers and practice administrative staff are invited to participate in a short study aimed at helping to mitigate risk in eye care to improve patient outcomes.

With regulatory body notifications and medico-legal action on the rise across all professions including optometry, the negative impacts and costs of these incidents can be extremely significant for patients, the providers of care, and our professions.

individuals contributing to eye care… are invited to participate in an online focus group discussion

This project is a collaboration involving Deakin University, Optometry Australia and The University of Melbourne.

As part of this project, individuals contributing to eye care (including optometrists, optical dispensers, practice managers and practice admin staff) are invited to participate in an online focus group discussion.

The focus group discussion will occur online within a month’s time and require approximately one to one hour and a half of your time.

The focus group will consist of a facilitator and up to ten other participants.

Prior to allocating you to a focus group, you will need you to complete a short online survey that should not take more than 10 minutes to complete.

Findings will be used to create e-resources to help those involved in providing eye care to identify and mitigate risks.

Focus group participants will receive a AU$50 Coles-Myer gift card.

You can access the plain language statement here, which also contains a link to the survey. This study has received Deakin University ethics approval (reference number: HEAG-H 13_2023).

If you would like more information about the research project, you can contact Dr Alex Jaworski at alexandra.jaworski@deakin.edu.au or (AUS) 03 522 72038.
