At RANZCO Scientific Congress in Perth Dr Amy Cohn explained the natural history of geographic atrophy (GA) and how it progresses. Describing GA as a “relentless, progressive disease” she said it impacts how patients see and experience the world. With a new treatment – pegcetacoplan injection (Apellis) – awaiting approval from the Therapeutics Goods Administration, it is essential to hone in on faster progressing patients who will become the first candidates.
