The Australasian College of Behavioural Optometry (ACBO) is now accepting registrations for its Advanced Vision Care course.
This new program of evidence-based education provides a structured process of education for ACBO members looking to significantly expand their knowledge and experience of paediatric, binocular vision, vision processing, strabismus and amblyopia, and vision therapy care.
The first module on Vision and Learning, developed by Carmin Hall, comprises 24 short online seminars which can be watched at your convenience, then followed by Modified Clinical Questions for a total of 21 CPD hours. The first module will conclude with a three-day workshop accredited for 18 CPD hours.
A second module, on ‘Chairside testing’ developed by Richard Shanks, will be presented later this year and the third module, on ‘Vision therapy for visual dysfunctions’ developed by Meredith Graham, will be presented in 2025.
Also in early 2025, Dr Paul Harris and Dr Rob Lewis from the United States will again present ‘New/old strabismus and amblyopia’.
Together, the four modules provide an accessible, up to date, evidence-based program of more than 100 hours of clinical education in binocular vision, paediatrics and vision therapy. They form the pre-requisites for entry to the ACBO ANOC Course (Neuro-Optometric Care) and the ACBO Fellowship program, for those who would like to continue their studies and experience.
