Optometrists are invited to participate in a research project titled ‘Attitudes, barriers, and facilitators to telehealth in optometry’ being led by academics at the University of Melbourne, Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences.
Effective use of telehealth can enhance patient eye care. In Australia, reports of telehealth in optometry have been limited to collaboration with ophthalmologists, primarily in rural and remote areas. It is unclear how telehealth is practised daily by optometrists and if they feel supported and/or are accepting of telehealth.
This study aims to determine the:
- Current telehealth practises of optometrists,
- Optometrists’ attitudes towards telehealth, and
- Barriers and facilitators that practitioners face in telehealth adoption.
The result of the study will guide stakeholders in making decisions for safe and effective implementation of telehealth.
To participate in the study (Human ethics approval ID: 28656), complete the online 15-minute survey comprising questions about your thoughts towards and usage of telehealth. The survey is available by scanning the QR code.
A plain language statement and consent form is attached with the survey. Participation is voluntary and submitted surveys remain anonymous. The survey is open for the month of June 2024.
