Team Changes at Glaucoma Australia

Richard Wylie, Chief Executive Officer of Glaucoma Australia, has resigned after 21 months in the position.

In an announcement, Mr Wylie said that it was “with a sense of fulfillment that I close this chapter of my professional journey and look forward to embarking on new and exciting ‘for purpose’ adventures”.

He listed highlights of his tenure that included “establishing a government relations program from scratch, unveiling the groundbreaking Evaluate health economic report that quantifies the true costs of glaucoma… the government co-investment proposal that has received glowing praise from all levels of government, the successful re-launch of our patient support program as Sightwise, and the impactful awareness campaigns in mainstream media”.

Mr Adam Check has been appointed as Interim CEO of Glaucoma Australia.

In other news, Glaucoma Australia has announced an expansion of its Sightwise patient support team, with the appointment of Senior Orthoptist Patient Educator Val Tosswill.

Ms Tosswill’s career has spanned private orthoptic practice, disability, rehabilitation, education, low vision, clinical research, ophthalmic practice, and practice management.

As a former Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney in Orthoptics, Ms Tosswill has also played a significant role in shaping the next generation of orthoptists.
