The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) has opened early bird registrations for its 55th Annual Scientific Congress, billed as the premier ophthalmic event in the southern hemisphere.
This year the event is being hosted in Adelaide, Australia’s food, wine and festival capital.
Congress opening speaker, environmental scientist Tim Jarvis AM will share the lessons he’s learned from retracing the legendary polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton’s 1916 Antarctic journey of survival, a feat he managed in 2013 leading a team of six men. Mr Jarvis will speak on themes of leadership, problem solving, resilience, teamwork, motivation, and goal setting – all relevant to, and can be applied in, any profession, RANZCO said.
Keynote speakers from across Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, USA, and Canada will cover topics on paediatrics, oculoplastic, glaucoma, retina and cataract, accompanying RANZCO’s Named Lectures – Dame Ida Mann, Council, Sir Norman Gregg, and Fred Hollows.
If you’re a RANZCO Fellow or CPD customer, this is also your time to rack up CPD hours.

This Congress will also be RANZCO’s most sustainable yet – carbon offsetting, recycling and tree planting will be just some of what you can do in the lead up to and while you’re in Adelaide.
Register by 24 September to take advantage of the early bird rates. Visit the Congress website to register.
