Managing Geographic Atrophy Webinar: Where Do We Focus Now?

Led by Professor Andrew Chang AM as moderator; Associate Professors Samantha Fraser-Bell and Hemal Mehta, and Dr James Wong will share their expert insights and discuss key topics to ensure you are ready for the anticipated approval of GA therapies in Australia.

Open to ophthalmologists and orthoptists, ‘Managing geographic atrophy: Where do we focus now?’ will commence at 6.30pm (AEST). It will run for approximately 60 minutes, concluding with a dynamic live Q&A session with audience participation.

THE PRESENTERS

Assoc Prof Fraser-Bell has been chief investigator for more than 50 medical retinal trials at the Macular Research Unit, Save Sight Institute, including clinical trials aimed at slowing the progression of geographic atrophy. She is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Sydney, and a consultant medical retinal subspecialist at the Royal North Shore and Sydney Eye Hospitals.

Assoc Prof Mehta is an ophthalmic surgeon specialising in medical retina conditions and cataract surgery. He is involved in tracking treatment outcomes in routine clinical practice, for example of intravitreal therapy for neovascular age-related macular degeneration, via the University of Sydney’s Fight Retinal Blindness! registry.

Dr Wong is a medical retina specialist and is Medical Director and Co-Director of Research at Strathfield Retina Clinic. A consultant ophthalmologist in the Medical Retina Unit at Sydney Eye Hospital and Sydney Retina Clinic, he is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney and has been principal investigator on international clinical therapeutic research trials of macular diseases for over a decade.

Prof Chang is a vitreoretinal surgeon and ophthalmologist. He holds academic appointments of Conjoint Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of NSW and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. He is the Head of Ophthalmology at the Sydney Eye Hospital and the Medical Director of Sydney Retina Clinic.
