
Sydney optometrist Linda Nguyen has won the ‘Bankstown City Council Community Woman of the Year’ award.
Ms Nguyen champions the delivery of accessible and compassionate optometry services, particularly for people with disabilities, mobility challenges, and complex medical issues.

She opened her practice – Care Optometry – during Covid-19 with an ambition to focus on patients at risk of being overlooked, including children, the elderly, and individuals from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
Ms Nguyen also supports her community as the visiting optometrist at Wellama Aboriginal Community Health Centre, daycares and schools, and through volunteer work.
With training in cultural safety, disability support, and trauma-informed care, she exemplifies an inclusive approach to providing healthcare and has been praised for saving vision and significantly improving quality of life for housebound patients.
