The Australian Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO) has made three incoming appointments to its Board of Directors.
Victorian ophthalmologists Dr Rahul Chakrabarti and Dr Tricia Drew will join Mark Grey from Tasmania on the Board.
Mr Grey is the first vision-impaired representative to be appointed to the ASO Board of Directors.
ASO President Dr Peter Sumich said each of the incoming directors has strengths and areas of expertise that will extend the work of ASO.
“We have been in a period of peacekeeping for some time but are seeing this shift as various issues across Australian healthcare are reaching a crisis point,” Dr Sumich said.
“With advocacy playing an essential role as we tackle the new year and the challenges that undoubtedly lie ahead, the ASO is pleased to announce these appointments and share that our voice – the voice of Australian ophthalmologists and their patients – is growing stronger,” he said.
