ZEISS Unveils Advanced Surgical Microscope

Surgeons in Australia now have access to the latest ZEISS surgical microscopes, following the launch of the Aretevo 750 and Artevo 850.

The Artevo 750 features AdVision, a system that overlays surgical data into the surgeon’s eyepiece at a high resolution. This microscope also enables surgeons to customise their surgical view by selecting their preferred light colour temperature from a mix of red, green, and blue LEDS.

Meanwhile, Artevo 850 features hybrid heads-up surgery support, with customisable 3D visualisation. Both microscopes offer updated intraoperative optical coherence tomography (OCT) feature for enhanced visibility and diagnostic capabilities during procedures.

ZEISS stated that both the Artevo 850 and the Artevo 750 have been designed to streamline surgical workflows across different ophthalmic subspecialties when used in combination with the latest iteration of the Callisto eye cockpit. This ensures vital access to patient management, and cataract assistance functions to assist in aligning intraocular lenses (IOLs) and managing device settings during procedures.

Data overlays are injected into the eyepiece of the Artevo 750 at a 40% higher resolution than previous, and in high contrast. On the Artevo 850, the same data is overlayed in the 3D surgical view on the 55” monitor.

Smart functionality embedded in the 850 enables depth of field to be boosted by 60%. Additionally, surgeons can switch intraoperatively between 3D visualisation and viewing the surgical field through real optical oculars while the operating room team continues to view the live image in 3D on the monitor. This functionality is particularly useful for engaging and teaching team members.
