Rohto – recognised as the world’s leading eye care brand for five consecutive years1 – has introduced a preservative-free version of its Rohto Dry Aid with Tearshield technology.
The release into Australia and New Zealand follows hot on the heels of the launch of Rohto eye drops in Australia at Optometry Australia’s Clinical Conference last year.
The new formulation is the same as the current Rohto Dry Aid with Tearshield technology eye drops, except that it is preservative-free and only available in a single vial format.
Clinically proven,2 the Rohto Dry Aid eye drop contains several active ingredients that work synergistically across all three tear film layers. Sesame oil aggregates with, and complements, the non-polar layer and has very effective anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant properties. Castor oil increases lipid layer thickness and tear break-up time, while also providing antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory benefits. Meanwhile, a menthol component addresses neurosensory symptoms by working on TRPM8 ion channels, accentuating a cooling sensation and increasing basal tear secretion, which produces a soothing effect and relieves dry eye symptoms.
According to Rohto, the result is immediate and long-lasting relief for up to 12 hours, from eight common dry eye symptoms.
