ZEISS Visuref 1000 Diagnostic Tool Launched

ZEISS has started the year with the launch of  the ZEISS Visuref 1000 – a comprehensive diagnostic tool that combines advanced objective wavefront refraction with a variety of additional features to monitor both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye for a wide range of ocular pathologies.

The new device integrates with the ZEISS ecosystem, enabling centralised data management and communication between various ZEISS devices for efficiency and improved analytical capabilities.

Dean Psarakis, Optical Product & Training Specialist at ZEISS Vision Care Australia and New Zealand said the Visuref 1000 would also enable more personalised care.

“Changing lifestyles, evolving habits, and an ageing population are contributing to a rise in eye conditions such as dry eye syndrome and cataracts,” Mr Psarakis said. “These trends emphasise the growing need for more advanced diagnostic tools to perform comprehensive eye check-ups. The ZEISS Visuref 1000 empowers eye care professionals to obtain detailed information about their patients’ eye health with the push of a button.

“This innovative device enables practitioners to expand their service offerings, provide personalised insights into eye health, and deliver tailored eye care solutions that address the unique needs of each patient,” he said.

Key Features

The ZEISS Visuref 1000 integrates wavefront refraction, keratometry, pupillometry, corneal topography, and pachymetry, as well as technologies including a non-contact tonometer and a non-mydriatic fundus camera. Operation and access to results are facilitated through a 10.1” touchscreen.

Key features include:

Wavefront Technology. The device employs advanced wavefront technology to account for both low-and high-order aberrations, so eye care professionals can provide their customers with a higher level of customisation in their lens prescriptions, such as lenses with ZEISS i.Scription technology. ZEISS i.Scription reduces glare effects and improves visual brilliance, especially in low light, which leads to greater visual comfort for wearers and opens up upselling opportunities for eye care professionals.

Automated Dry Eye Check. Symptoms such as burning eyes and eye fatigue are synonymous with the increasing use of screens. ZEISS VISUREF 1000 allows for automated, non-invasive measurement of tear film break-up time (NIBUT) and provides the option to measure and analyse both the tear film quality and stability. Additionally, a colour image with grading scales is used to assess the meibomian gland area and to measure the tear meniscus height.

Integrated Fundus Camera, Non-Contact Tonometer and Pachymeter. These technologies significantly expand screening capabilities. High-resolution images of the retina and measurements of intraocular pressure as well as central corneal thickness can be generated with just a few clicks. The device can be a starting point in the collaborative care journey of eye care professionals and enables essential eye health screening measurements and services.
